CHICAGO — The top six players in the U.S. Team standings have officially clinched automatic berths to compete in the 2026 Presidents Cup following the conclusion of the BMW Championship. Players accrued FedExCup points from the beginning of the 2025 PGA TOUR Season through the 2026 BMW Championship, with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler topping the U.S. Team standings to secure his third consecutive Presidents Cup appearance.
The additional five automatic qualifiers – Cameron Young (No. 2), Wyndham Clark (No. 3), Sam Burns (No. 4), Russell Henley (No. 5) and Collin Morikawa (No. 6) – will make their return to the U.S. Presidents Cup Team.
Wyndham Clark claimed his third PGA TOUR victory of the 2026 season at the BMW Championship and moved from No. 7 to No. 3 in the standings to become one of the six automatic qualifiers. Ben Griffin entered the week at No. 5 in the standings and finished T44 to fall to No. 8.
Following the TOUR Championship, U.S. Team Captain Brandt Snedeker and International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy will make their six captain’s picks live from PGA TOUR Studios on Tuesday, September 1 at 5 p.m. ET to round out their 12-man teams that will compete at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3, Sept. 22-27. The 60-minute show will be streamed on the PGA TOUR’s YouTube and FAST channels and broadcast on Golf Channel.

NO. 1 – SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER

Presidents Cup Appearances (Record): 2022, 2024 (3-5-1)
2026 Highlights: The World No. 1 collected victories at The American Express and the FedEx St. Jude Championship to reach 21 career PGA TOUR titles. His dominant eight-stroke victory at TPC Southwind represents the largest margin of victory on TOUR this season. Owns a season-high 12 top-10 finishes during the 2026 season.
Notable: Has been an automatic qualifier in each of his three Presidents Cup appearances. Owns a 3-5-1 career record at the Presidents Cup, with all three victories coming at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in 2024. Has made three Ryder Cup appearances (2021, 2023, 2025) with a 3-6-3 record.

2026 Highlights: The Wake Forest product recorded two victories as part of a breakthrough season in 2026, winning THE PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship, to help secure his second Presidents Cup appearance. In addition to those wins, the World No. 3 collected six top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
Notable: Making his second Presidents Cup appearance after posting a 1-2-1 record in his debut at Quail Hollow Club in 2022 as PGA TOUR rookie and a captain’s pick. Made his Ryder Cup debut in 2025 at Bethpage Black as a captain’s pick and compiled a 3-1-0 record.
NO. 3 – WYNDHAM CLARK

Presidents Cup Appearances (Record): 2024 (1-2-1)
2026 Highlights: Delivered a standout season highlighted by three victories: THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, where he closed with a final-round 60; the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, which he won in wire-to-wire fashion for his second career major title; and, most recently, the BMW Championship, where his victory moved him up four positions in the U.S. Team standings and solidified his spot as the No. 3 automatic qualifier for Captain Snedeker.
Notable: Qualified for his first Presidents Cup appearance in 2024 at The Royal Montreal Golf Club where he recorded a 1-2-1 record. Was paired with Keegan Bradley in Thursday’s Four-ball match, defeating Taylor Pendrith and Christiaan Bezuidenhout to help the U.S. Team sweep 5-0 in the opening session. Was a member of Team USA at the 2023 Ryder Cup.

2026 Highlights: The five-time PGA TOUR winner has come on strong in the latter half of the 2026 season, highlighted by four top-five finishes in his last seven starts. His best finish came at the U.S. Open, where he placed second behind Wyndham Clark.
Notable: A two-time member of the Presidents Cup, Burns compiled a 0-3-2 record in his debut at Quail Hollow before rebounding with a 3-0-1 record as a captain’s pick in 2024 at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. Has two Ryder Cup appearances (2023, 2025) with an overall record of 1-3-2.
NO. 5 – RUSSELL HENLEY

Presidents Cup Appearances (Record): 2024 (3-1-0)
2026 Highlights: Recorded five top-10 finishes, highlighted by a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge, where he birdied each of the final three holes to force a playoff before ultimately defeating Eric Cole.
Notable: Selected as a captain’s pick by Jim Furyk for the 2024 Presidents Cup. Went 2-1 alongside Scheffler in team sessions and finished with an overall record of 3-1-0. Represented the United States at the 2025 Ryder Cup (0-2-1).
NO. 6 – COLLIN MORIKAWA

Presidents Cup Appearances (Record): 2022, 2024 (6-2-0)
2026 Highlights: Earned his seventh PGA TOUR title early in the 2026 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and added six more top-10 finishes, including a third-place finish at the Travelers Championship and a T4 at the BMW Championship.
Notable: Made his Presidents Cup debut in 2022 as a captain’s pick (2-1-0) and has since become a key contributor for the United States, returning in 2024 at Royal Montreal with a 4-1-0 record. Has made three Ryder Cup appearances (2021, 2023, 2025).
