Liberty National Foundation supports Jersey City Medical Center giveaway providing over 1,000 backpacks and school supplies to local students

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey —August 26, 2026— Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, distributed over 1,000 backpacks and school supplies during its annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway at its Greenville location on August 19.

Held with support from the Liberty National Foundation and other community partners, the event helped local students begin the upcoming academic year prepared and confident. Additional backpacks remaining after the event will be distributed directly to local public schools, extending the initiative’s reach to more Jersey City students.

The annual giveaway brought children and families together at Jersey City Medical Center’s Greenville location for a day focused on back-to-school preparation. Parents and caregivers also attended an informational fair highlighting health programs, services and resources available close to home.

“As part of RWJBarnabas Health, Jersey City Medical Center is proud to continue showing up for Hudson County families in ways that extend beyond the hospital,” said Bradley Kane, Associate Vice President, Jersey City Medical Center Foundation. “This year’s annual Backpack Giveaway distributed 1,000 backpacks and school supplies to local students, helping them head into the new school year prepared while giving their families an opportunity to connect with resources and services available close to home. That connection is an important part of how we serve Hudson County every day, and it would not have been possible without the support of the Liberty National Foundation, Royal Bank of Canada, JPMorgan Chase, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Whole Foods. Their support is a strong example of what we can accomplish when we come together for our community.”

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support Jersey City Medical Center and an event that helps kids and families from our community start the school year prepared and confident with the supplies they need to succeed,” said Michael Brooks, executive director of the Liberty National Foundation. “We appreciate all of our partners who helped make a positive impact in the lives of so many local families.”

The Liberty National Foundation partners with Jersey City Medical Center on a number of community initiatives and fundraisers. In April, the foundation supported the hospital’s inaugural Sneaker Gala at Maritime Parc in Jersey City, a new community event benefiting pediatric patients across Hudson County.
