(NYSE:TXT) company, announces the introduction of the next generation of Samsung SDI lithium battery technology in select model-year 2027 E-Z-GO® ELiTE lithium vehicles. This new generation of Samsung SDI technology – the third since E-Z-GO introduced its ELiTE lithium vehicles in 2017 -- combines proven power, performance and reliability with advanced safety features to provide additional peace of mind.
This third-generation Samsung SDI battery incorporates multiple automotive-grade safety features, including:
- An enhanced battery management system, which periodically monitors the battery’s health – even when the vehicle is turned off and unplugged – to ensure that all systems are working properly;
- Controlled energy discharge, which automatically discharges energy from the battery if an abnormal fault condition is detected, reducing the risks posed by a damaged or malfunctioning battery;
- An integrated, heat-activated suppression system, which automatically releases fire suppressant inside the battery when the system is exposed to extreme heat;
- Sensors that detect contaminants in the battery housing and, if detected, deliver a vehicle fault preventing vehicle use until the condition is addressed;
- Lithium cell potting, which surrounds the battery’s lithium cells with a protective compound to form a thermal barrier and prevent a damaged cell from impacting neighboring cells;
- A redesigned battery cover and tray, which better shield the battery from external damage or contamination.
Even with these integrated features, the new battery maintains a light, compact footprint. Model-year 2027 E-Z-GO RXV units with the third-generation battery are more than 75 pounds lighter than competing fleet golf cars, minimizing turf compaction on golf courses and maintaining a nimble, stable, responsive and fun ride for drivers and passengers.
Like prior generations of Samsung SDI battery technology in E-Z-GO ELiTE vehicles, the battery requires no maintenance, and is highly efficient, reducing energy usage and operating costs compared to traditional lead-acid batteries.
The introduction of the next-generation battery extends and expands E-Z-GO’s legacy as the industry leader in lithium technology, with more than 230,000 vehicles in operation on more than 3,750 golf courses worldwide, and more than 88 million cumulative field-hours of proven performance since the introduction of the first ELiTE series vehicles in 2017.
