FRISCO, Texas (October 13, 2026) – The PGA of America today announced PGA Past President Jim Richerson as Captain of the 2027 United States Junior Ryder Cup Team. He will lead the U.S. Team of 12 boys and girls as they compete in the 14th Junior Ryder Cup at Ballyneety Golf Club and Adare Manor in Ireland, Sept. 14-16, 2027.
Richerson served as the 42nd PGA of America President from 2020-22 and was inducted into the Association’s Hall of Fame in 2025. He is the PGA General Manager of The Riviera Country Club and The Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Richerson is a two-time winning U.S. captain after previously leading the Americans to victory at the 2022 Women’s PGA Cup and 2024 PGA Cup.
Richerson was elected President at the 104th PGA Annual Meeting in 2020. During his tenure, the game of golf experienced record participation and growth, which further elevated the role and stature of the PGA of America Golf Professional. Previously, he was elected as Vice President in 2018. When Richerson was elected Secretary as a member of the Wisconsin PGA Section in 2016, he became the first Wisconsin PGA Member to be elected as a National Officer.
“I am incredibly honored to serve as Captain of the 2027 United States Junior Ryder Cup Team,” said Richerson. “The U.S. continues to produce a wealth of exceptional junior talent and 12 of those individuals will proudly represent our country on a global platform next September. I cannot wait to watch the qualification process unfold and expect an outstanding match against the European Team in 2027.”
The 2027 Junior Ryder Cup will be contested over three days, Sept. 14-16. Foursomes and four-ball matches will take place at Ballyneety Golf Club over the first two days followed by singles matches at Adare Manor, site of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
The U.S. Team, which owns a 8-4-1 record in the event, will consist of six girls and six boys who are U.S. citizens and are members of the high school graduating class of 2028 or younger. The 2027 U.S. Team qualification process began in July at the 2026 Junior PGA Championships, held at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas.
