FIRST THOUGHT

Barring a miracle, golf rounds played in the United States for 2022 are expected to finish behind 2021's record year, according to the National Golf Foundation. That's not necessarily bad news. In 2021, rounds played were up 19% over the 2017-2019 average, and 2022 — with December still left to be accounted for — will likely finish around 17% over that same three-year cumulative average.
