The name Coody has a long history on the PGA Tour, dating back to Charles Coody over 50 years ago. The Texan won three times on Tour between 1964 and 1971, when he won that year's Masters. Now grandson Pierceson Coody is taking up the charge. Coody, making his debut on the PGA Tour at the Honda Classic on a sponsor's exemption, shot a 66 to sit a stroke off the suspended first-round lead on Thursday. Coody, who played collegiately at the University of Texas, turned pro in June 2022 after finishing No. 1 in the PGA Tour University Velocity Global Ranking. He already has two wins in 15 starts on the Korn Ferry Tour since, including The Panama Championship this season.
