There is something simplistic and symbolic about a round number. Like 50, for example. The golf industry, which has been experiencing a 6% average annual increase in total golf participation since 2019, is eyeing 50 million participants as its next goal. According to the National Golf Foundation, the number has grown from 34.2 million in 2019 to 48.1 million in 2025. So, with just a 4% bump, 50 million could be eclipsed in 2026. One of the biggest increase drivers has been off-course only participation — having jumped from 9.9% in 2019 to 18.9% in 2025, though down from 19.1% in 2024.
