While it's just a number — and even one that doesn't hold a great deal of significance — it should be pointed out that 68-year-old Jay Haas is making his 799th career PGA Tour start this week, partnering with his son Bill in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The elder Haas last played on Tour at the 2010 Players Championship. His last cut made was the 2006 PGA Championship.

Named: By the LPGA, that Matthew Chmura will join the Tour as its new chief marketing, communications and brand officer, starting May 9. Chmura has previously worked for the Boston Bruins and Leader Bank.

Announced: By the PGA Tour Champions and healthcare technology company Grail, a partnership to host a new event, the Galleri Classic, March 20-26, 2023 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The Galleri Classic will feature a purse of $2.2 million.

Scheduled: By PopStroke Entertainment Group, to open its Sarasota, Florida, location on April 28. Co-owned by Greg Bartoli and Tiger Woods’ TGR Ventures, the technology-infused golf entertainment venue features two 18-hole putting courses created by Woods' TGR Design team and a two-story layout with a rooftop bar and private event space. 

Announced: By the USGA, that Pebble Beach Golf Links will now host four future U.S. Opens (2027, 2032, 2037 and 2044) as well as four future U.S. Women’s Opens, including its first one next year (2023, 2035, 2040 and 2048). Also, the U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Senior Women’s Open will be staged back-to-back at the same location in 2030, with the resort’s Spyglass Hill Golf Course as the host site.
