FIRST THOUGHT

A week ago, Andrew Novak came oh-so-close to winning his first PGA Tour title, losing to Justin Thomas in a playoff at the RBC Heritage. Sunday, Novak teamed with Ben Griffin to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans by the narrowest of margins — one stroke over Nicolai Hojgaard and Rasmus Hojgaard. If the turnaround smacks of familiarity, Novak becomes the first player to lose in a playoff and win the following week since Patrick Cantlay at the 2022 RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Also, the win was Griffin's first on Tour.
