While it might seem like a first-time occurrence that no player in the Official World Golf Ranking's top 10 was inside a major championship leaderboard's top 10 following any round, it's not. Jhonattan Vegas, ranked No. 70, set the pace with a 7-under 64 at the PGA Championship Thursday at Quail Hollow Club, and the next 18 players that made up the opening round's top 10 were bunched between 3- and 6-under par. Not until World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is T20 following a 2-under 69, is there a top-10 ranked player on the leaderboard. The last time this oddity occurred at a major was in the second round of the 2021 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island's Ocean Course. Aside from Scheffler, Collin Morikawa (ranked No. 4) and Ludvig Aberg (No. 6) were T29 at 1-under 70 after 18 holes.
