According to Kinona's second Women in Golf Equality Index, 70 percent of 1,044 U.S. adults surveyed believe golf clothes must be just as fashionable as they are functional. Of women who have played golf or are interested in playing, 80% agreed. Also, 77% of that same segment of women believe there is a correlation between wearing stylish clothes, feeling confident and playing better.

Opened: By the USGA, the U.S. Open Merchandise Pavilion at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. The general public can shop from Friday-Sunday, June 10-12 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET daily). Tickets are not required to access the pavilion during these three days.

Broke: By the USGA, ground Monday, June 6, on Golf House Pinehurst in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina. The campus will include an equipment-testing facility, a visitor-friendly USGA Experience and an educational landscape feature. The 6-acre campus, designed by North Carolina-based Clearscapes and constructed by Gilbane, is to be completed by the end of 2023.

Announced: By LIV Golf, that six-time major champion Phil Mickelson will play the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series tournament June 9-11 at Centurion Club in London. Mickelson will be joined by five qualifiers from the Asian Tour International Series who complete the 48-man field. The qualifiers are Itthipat Buranatanyarat, Viraj Madappa, Travis Smyth, Ian Snyman and Kevin Yuan.

Announced: By the USGA, that 12 players have earned exemptions into next week's U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. The dozen players earned entry based on the current Official World Golf Ranking or the four-event U.S. Open 2022 European Qualifying Series, which ended on June 5. The 12 players are Aaron Wise, Luke List, Victor Perez, Ryan Fox, Thorbjorn Olesen, Sam Horsfield, Sebastian Soderberg, Kalle Samooja, Wil Besseling, Yannik Paul, Richard Mansell and Marcel Schneider.
