Wyndham Clark — a budding superstar or a flash-in-the-pan major champion? The 29-year-old's U.S. Open win was certainly impressive and he became the fifth straight player to win his first major championship at the U.S. Open, joining Gary Woodland (2019), Bryson DeChambeau (2020), Jon Rahm (2021) and Matt Fitzpatrick (2022). And though Clark is the first champion since Justin Rose in 2013 to play the final nine holes over-par (1-over 36), the spotlight of being the leader rattled him only slightly. His previous best 54-hole position in a major championship was T51 at the 2021 PGA Championship, where he eventually finished T71. Clark, who entered the week No. 32 in the Official World Golf Ranking, became the lowest-ranked U.S. Open champion since Graeme McDowell in 2010 (No. 37). He is now No. 13.
