When it comes to the Open Championship, there is a bit of that "you say tomato, I say tomahto" expression regarding its name. Some observers refer to the oldest major as the Open Championship or The Open, while others say British Open. The First Call recently conducted a poll about which is proper and 50.5% chose British Open and another 10.5% said either is fine. So which is it? The Associated Press' Doug Ferguson did an interesting deep dive as to how the split all came about.
