There is little doubt that the British Open will be trending on social media throughout the rest of this week. Thanks to TheStatsDontLie.com, here are a few trends worthy of note:
> All 11 British Open winners since 2011 had at least four career wins, had made at least 13 previous starts that season and were in the top 18 after the opening round.
> Nine of the 11 winners had at least 180 career starts, at least one previous top-10 British Open finish and had won at least one previous tournament win that season.
> Only one of the 11 had previously won a British Open.

COREY JOHN HIGGS
Director of Instruction, Compass Pointe Golf Courses
THE FIRST CALL: What is the best advice you have received on your career path?
COREY JOHN HIGGS: Work hard, back yourself and never give up. I had many days where I thought "I can't keep going," and on these days you need a voice of reason. I have had three great mentors over the years and all three told me to call them anytime when it gets tough and they will talk it through with me. Find a mentor. They have been in your shoes many times before and in tough times they will reassure you of the solutions that you may not be able to see. This person will be instrumental in helping you achieve your goals.
TFC: Where is there room for growth within the industry?
CJH: AI — artificial intelligence — will help us coaches get faster access to students' deficiencies. Apps that measure students' overall game, driving range and course analytics help us identify and diagnose solutions in real time.
