TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP NOTEBOOK

➡️ Min Woo Lee tied his career-low round on the PGA Tour with an 8-under 62 to take the first-round lead at the Tour Championship. Making his tournament debut at East Lake Golf Club, Lee seeks his second career tour victory and his first since the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. With a victory this week, the 28-year-old would become the first player to win the Tour Championship in his debut since Xander Schauffele in 2017.
➡️ Collin Morikawa, Chris Gotterup, and 2023 FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland each posted 6-under 64s to sit two strokes back in a tie for second place. Morikawa led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (3.384), while three-time 2026 winner Gotterup carded a bogey-free scorecard. Hovland holed 141 feet, 3 inches of putts to record his lowest opening-round score in seven consecutive appearances at East Lake.
➡️ Reigning FedEx Cup champion Tommy Fleetwood opened with a 4-under 66 as he attempts to become the first back-to-back champion in FedEx Cup history. Fleetwood is the only player in the field to record top-10 finishes in both of the first two playoff events. 2024 FedEx Cup champion Scottie Scheffler posted a bogey-free 5-under 65, marking his third consecutive opening round of 65 or better at the Tour Championship.
