This week, the LPGA is in Omitama, Japan, for the Toto Japan Classic, which is co-sanctioned with the LPGA of Japan Tour and has an interesting bit of history. While this is the 46th playing of the tournament, the event was an unofficial stop on the LPGA from 1973-75 and was played as a JLPGA event only during the pandemic years 2020 and 2021. As a side note, 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam won this tournament five successive years from 2001-2005.
