FIRST THOUGHT

Viktor Hovland. He is your favorite for this week's World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba if only because he has won the last two years. Not since Steve Stricker won the John Deere Classic from 2009 through 2011 has a player pulled off a three-peat. Another reason? Hovland, 25, has three PGA Tour wins — all three being outside the United States. His other victory came in Puerto Rico.
