FIRST THOUGHT

Since winning the FedEx Cup Playoffs' BMW Championship in August, Viktor Hovland won the Tour Championship, then finished 5th and 2nd, respectively, at the European Tour's BMW PGA Championship and DP World Tour Championship. The run has allowed him to quietly move to No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Now he's teeing up at the Hero World Challenge, where he stands a good chance of earning a hefty portion of ranking points. The reason? Hovland has won the event the past two years and is seeking a three-peat — a feat no player, including host Tiger Woods, has been able to accomplish.
