In the QBE Shootout's 34-year history, rookie teams have never had much of a track record of winning. Mark O’Meara and Curtis Strange won the inaugural event in 1989, when all teams were technically considered rookies. Then it was not until 2011 before another pair of rookies — Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele — won. Sunday, Tom Hoge and Sahith Theegala became the third duo, winning a playoff with a 34-under 182 total at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
