U.S. Open heading to Winged Foot in 2028; Portugal's The Dunas Course on track for June opening

Announced: By Terras da Comporta, that the David McLay Kidd-designed Dunas Course is on schedule to open just outside Lisbon, Portugal, in June. English photographer and videographer James Hogg recently spent three days shooting and filming The Dunas Course ahead of its opening.

Announced: By Zero Friction, that it will unveil the Wheel Pro Stride golf bag, a lightweight, autonomous electric golf bag at the PGA Show. Weighing 15 pounds, Stride includes a remote using Smart Follow Technology, and a built-in intelligent gyroscopic control system for stability, speed control and soft start. Also, it will feature a battery life of 36 to 45 holes and a maximum speed of 5 mph.

Named: By the LPGA, Jody Brothers as its new chief business and operations officer of the Epson Tour. Brothers previously served in various leadership roles with the PGA Tour since 2007. Brothers will oversee all aspects of the Tour, leading the annual operating of more than 20 events and building collaborative relationships with corporate and tournament partners.

Announced: By the PGA of America and PGA Golf Exhibitions, that the Omni PGA Frisco Resort at PGA Frisco and the new home of the PGA of America will be the host venues for the 2023 PGA Buying and Education Summit, July 31-Aug. 2 in Frisco, Texas. The Summit annually brings together PGA professionals and golf buyers to preview the latest innovations and trends from a curated group of top golf brands, and offers the opportunity to place orders for new 2024 spring apparel lines.

Selected: By the USGA, Winged Foot Golf Club's West Course, in Mamaroneck, N.Y., as the host site for the 2028 U.S. Open. The 128th U.S. Open will mark the seventh time the championship has been held at Winged Foot, and will be the 14th USGA championship hosted by the club. During its 100-year history, the club has been the site of six U.S. Opens, two U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Women’s Opens, one U.S. Senior Open, one U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and one Walker Cup Match. Also, Winged Foot hosted the 1997 PGA Championship.
