Brixton Albert believes that every golfer, regardless of ability, has a root flaw — the one big thing in their swing that keeps them from getting better. He ascribes to that idea so steadfastly that he has brought together some of America’s best golf instructors for golf schools all over the country through Performance Golf, the company of which he is the CEO and founder.
Martin Chuck, Rick Smith, Cameron McCormick, Andrew Rice, Erika Larkin, Kevin Weeks and Rick Sessinghaus headline the list of teachers who will conduct the schools. Each teacher is nationally recognized and most are among the top 50 teachers in the U.S.
“Our goal at these schools is we believe that every golfer has five swing flaws, but the big secret to getting better at golf, in my opinion, is working on your flaws in the right order,” said Albert, who played NCAA Division I golf at Radford University. “I think 99% of golfers out there think they know their issue, but 99% of them don't work on their root flaw.”
Albert scoured the country looking for the best instructors for the schools. “I’ve driven eight hours for a lesson,” he says. And he was looking for one thing in particular.

“I’ve found few teachers who are very good at identifying that root flaw,” Albert says. “And when you can fix that root flaw, identify it as step one and then fix it. It often fixes three other things at once. It just simplifies the game. And that's really the goal, go to one of these experiences, identify your root swing flaw and have a way to fix it, and really do that across the top two or three areas of your game.”
The schools will have a 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring plenty of personal time with the instructor.
At a number of golf schools, when the student leaves, he or she is on their own to implement the swing changes. The Performance Golf VIP Schools will assign each student an instructor with a follow-up plan. Students will be able to send unlimited swing videos to their instructor.
“This is a chance for your pro to look over your shoulder as you're doing it because if you leave a school and try to do it yourself, you can be a little bit off,” Albert says. “And if we can make sure you do it right, it stacks up, and that's how you see the big breakthrough.
“These schools aren’t just random lessons. This is a chance to identify your root flaw, get a good plan, apply the learnings across all parts of your game, but then leave the school and have a full strategy to make this the year you get to your goal rather than just trying to figure it out yourself.”

Participants will have a VIP Concierge who will have a consultation with each prospective student, learn about their game, physical limitations, uncover things they’ve tried in the past and goals going forward to tailor a plan unique to each golfer.. The concierge can also guide students about the destinations and recommend nearby hotels.
“It’s a very consultive methodology that we use,” Albert says. “We have a call with the golfer just to see if it's a good fit, because this is a really customized experience,” Albert says. “It's all nicely coordinated. So, when you go to a school, you can just have a good two or three-day trip, learn from one of the best, meet some other great people, and get better fast.
“It’s a process to understand what students are trying to achieve and we can align them with a coach who is going to really help them get to their goals. And that coach happens to be one of the best in the world and would match well with their personality.”
The two-day VIP schools will take place in 20 U.S. cities, such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Phoenix, Austin, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, Boston, New York and Chicago, among others.
Performance Golf is also offering to partner with businesses to increase their “lifetime customer value” by referring customers to the VIP schools or using the schools as a customer benefit, which would come with a revenue-sharing arrangement.
