"Seven Days in Utopia" is one of my favorite golf movies.
Mac Brockman
Montgomery, Texas
—————
1. "Caddyshack." Hilariously established, outta nowhere, that there could be a golf movie genre, and is forever the greatest for it.
2. Ron Shelton's "Tin Cup" epitomizes the comedic drama every golfer embodies as we chase our next great shot — proving that a golf movie could be funny and capture the incredible drama of sports all at the same time.
3. And I think we were all surprised how well "The Greatest Game Ever Played" brought Francis Ouimet alive on screen in such a great, nostalgic way. It's one of those few movies that's not as good as the book, but you don't care because it's so fun — but kudos to author Mark Frost, who is quite the screenwriter too.
"Happy Gilmore" gets a nod for successfully doing what "Caddyshack" did a generation earlier. But those three are unquestionably the best golf movies of all time.

—————
1. "Tin Cup"
2. "Caddyshack"
3. "The Long Game"
Keith Maresca
Pinehurst, North Carolina
—————
1. "Caddyshack"
2. "The Legend of Bagger Vance"
3. "The Greatest Game Ever Played"

Most everyone who is reading this and thinking about the best golf movies is going to have "Caddyshack," "The Greatest Game Ever Played" and "Happy Gilmore" listed — my 3 top picks — as well as "Tin Cup" (in my humble opinion, just OK) and some others.
But I would add the golf scene from "Goldfinger," my favorite golf cinematic moment, with James Bond and Auric Goldfinger playing Penfold and Slazenger balls at Goldfinger's club, Stoke Park. The best Bond movie ever, as well.

I select "The Legend of Bagger Vance" as the top golf movie.
Other notable golf movies include "Tin Cup," "Caddyshack" and "The Greatest Game Ever Played."

2. "Loopers: The Caddie's Long Walk" (love hearing stories from caddies)
Sheri Molyneaux
Salem, Oregon

My vote goes to "The Legend of Bagger Vance." It's a beautiful, engaging, epic story of love, honor, family, community and resilience centered around the game of golf.

"Tin Cup."

SHOULD HE OR SHOULDN'T HE?
[QOTW, February 10-16: Should President Donald Trump be involved in PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger negotiations?]
No, he should concentrate on his mandate to lower the costs for average Americans. He cannot be trusted anyway and is a poor negotiator. We don't need more litigation, which tends to follow him.
Bob Celli
Orlando, Florida
—————
I am amazed that anyone would want Donald Trump in these negotiations. He cheats at golf — read "Commander in Cheat" by Rick Reilly. Trump has always had a slippery grip on the truth and that includes his golf score, which is described throughout the book. Golf stands for honesty and sportsmanship.
Donald Trump stands for neither.
Kevin O’Brien
Foster City, California
—————
Donald Trump has an interest in being part of the deal. That interest is motivated by greed and benefits he’ll derive from having the tours play on his second-rate courses and a boost to his hotel occupancy. The man is a renowned golf cheat and PGA Tour officials are cheapening themselves by selling out.

PLAYING THROUGH
[Poll Question, Feb. 17, How often do you let golfers play through?]
So, there were 15 guys (probably) or gals (doubtful) who never — NEVER — let anyone play through. No matter how many holes are open in front? No matter well, anything, I guess. There's a name for these people and it's not golfers. I'd mention what the real name for them is but you wouldn't print it.
