Who could be the next voice of the Masters?

Readers of The First Call offer an intriguing list of possible candidates — yes, including Smylie Kaufman — to replace CBS Sports' Jim Nantz as the major's next lead play-by-play announcer.

Question of the week [April 6-13]: Which current play-by-play announcer would you like to see succeed Jim Nantz as CBS Sports' lead at the Masters?

This may be a little out of the box but I think Smylie Kaufman would be great in the booth. He seams to have a great personality, he certainly has knowledge of the game, a good voice,  a sence of humor and good timing and delievery skills.  He needs some more experience that he is getting now.  He seams to have the ability to connect with people.

Jim Nantz's replacement should be me. An avid average golfer with naive insight who can articulate questions and observations ... great change.

Celebrating his 40th Masters, Jim Nantz has a long way to go before saying goodbye. In my opinion, he’s the best ever and there is no one out there who can replace him, so let’s enjoy the rest of great career.

How about Tony Romo? I'd love that.

I vote for Grant Boone.

Will Brewer

Scott Van Pelt. He is a golf enthusiast who won't be the story, just tells the story.

This may seem like an odd choice, but I think Grant Hill would be an honorable replacement if given some golf training and experience ahead of time. He does a great job with basketball and is in the same mold as Nantz, in terms of character and likability.

Smylie Kaufman is my choice by a landslide.
