Golf course architect Kyle Franz was fresh off restoring Pinehurst No. 2 with Coore & Crenshaw for the U.S. Open when Kelly Miller, president and CEO of Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, met Franz to talk about Pine Needles' sister course, Mid Pines. The rest is history.

The Mid Pines restoration bolstered Franz's name in the golf architecture community and in the years since he's designed his first original design — Karoo at Cabot Citrus Farm.
