Forecast: May 2025

La Nina has passed, which means playable days and favorable playing conditions should be in order for most of the United States.

KEY FACTOR
With the peak season upon us, now is the time to secure weather insurance that can help protect potential summer revenue. To help in planning, here is what weather experts are projecting for golf clubs in May.

PROJECTED REGIONAL IMPACTS FOR GOLF OPERATORS
> Increased rainfall is expected in the northern Mid-Atlantic, southern Northeast, Ohio Valley and parts of the lower and middle Mississippi Valleys — regions where wet conditions could lead to more lost rounds and revenue.
> Drier-than-normal conditions are forecast across much of the West, the Northern Plains and Florida, where operators could see higher-than-average playable days.
> Near-average rainfall is projected for the Midwest, Central Plains and Southern Plains, signaling fairly typical playing conditions for this time of year.

With La Nina now officially in the rearview mirror and ocean temperatures back to neutral, weather patterns are shifting — but unpredictability remains.

Whether it’s peak usage weekends, member tournaments or Monday outings, Vortex offers rain insurance policies tailored to your club’s calendar and budget. To explore the options, contact Eric Anderson at 203-550-6150 or eanderson@vortexinsurance.com.
