FIRST THOUGHT

Looking for a favorite to win the final Chevron Championship at Mission Hills Country Club? Good luck. Leona Maguire and reigning champion Patty Tavatanakit were tied for the second best cumulative score to par (27 under) in 2021’s majors. Nelly Korda was first at 32 under, but she’s not playing this week. In the last five years of the Chevron, Lexi Thompson is a combined 43 under, six strokes better than Lydia Ko. Meanwhile, Sei Young Kim has the best scoring average (70.61) in majors since the beginning of 2017.
