FIRST THOUGHT

Nelly Korda entered this week's U.S. Women's Open as the favorite to win. That role took a major hit on Thursday when she posted a 10-over-par 80, including a 10 on the par-3 12th at Lancaster Country Club. Korda, though, should not be completely written off as the highest first round by an eventual champion is 79, shot by Susie Maxwell Berning in 1972.
