Rose Zhang wasted no time in establishing herself as a force on the LPGA, winning the Mizuho Americas Open in her first professional start on Sunday. Zhang, 20, spent 141 weeks as the No. 1 ranked women's amateur while winning 28 times, including two NCAA Women’s Individual Championships (2022, 2023) and the 2023 Augusta National Women's Amateur. In winning, Zhang, who played on a sponsor's exemption, accepted immediate LPGA Tour membership through 2024 and earned $412,500 toward her official and career LPGA earnings. Zhang is the first player to win while making her professional debut since Beverly Hanson did so in 1951.
