Experience pays when qualifying for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Of the 70 players who qualified for the first round at this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship, only six are rookies — Eric Cole, Thomas Detry, Taylor Montgomery, Sam Stevens, Vincent Norrman and Ben Griffin. The only other player in the field who qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the first time is Nick Hardy. Of those seven players, only Norrman (Barbasol Championship) and Hardy (Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Davis Riley) have won on the PGA Tour.
