FIRST THOUGHT

The last time the Irish Open was played at the K Club was 2016. Rory McIlroy played the final three holes birdie-par-eagle and went from a stroke down to ultimately win by three strokes over Russell Knox and Bradley Dredge. Only three Irishmen have won their nation's national championship this century — McIlroy, Shane Lowry (as an amateur) in 2009 and Padraig Harrington in 2007.
