Artificial Intelligence explosive growth is putting golf courses in its path. Massive, water-hungry data centers are replacing fairways, according to a report by NBC’s GolfPass. Dauphin Highlands in Pennsylvania is set to be sold for a huge premium and closed by 2027, while Hunting Hawk in Virginia may face the same fate. As developers chase land for server farms, golfers may soon find their favorite courses disappearing.
Golf courses often draw criticism from climate activists for their water use, yet data centers consume up to 41 times more water to keep their servers cool.
