On the PGA Tour, it's rare that in successive rounds a player will experience the extreme highs and lows a scorecard can show. In fact, since 1983, only six times has a player had a stroke differential of 20 or more strokes between rounds. Scott Simpson was the first when he shot 68-88 in the final two rounds of the 1992 U.S. Open. Of the six occurrences, two actually belong to Caleb Surratt, 18, of the University of Tennessee, who went 64-85-65 in the final three rounds of his Tour debut at last fall's Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Surratt is making his second career start on Tour at this week's The American Express.
