Announced: By Piza Golf, that founder Agustin Piza and golf course architecture partner Brandel Chamblee are ranked fifth on Golf Inc.’s 2023 Visionaries list.

Named: By the PGA of America, Stephen Szurlej as the third recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Photojournalism. Szurlej will be celebrated on May 17 during the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Szurlej, 73, served as Golf Digest’s senior staff photographer for nearly 30 years.
Introduced: By Titleist, the 2023 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x. the next generation of the brand's golf balls. The balls will be available in golf shops beginning Jan. 25 and feature new high-gradient core designs that deliver lower long game spin for increased distance and a more consistent flight, while maintaining greenside control.
Named: By U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Zach Johnson, Davis Love III as a Vice Captain for this year's Ryder Cup Matches, Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy. Johnson previously appointed former Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker as a Vice Captain. Love played in six Ryder Cups and is a two-time Ryder Cup Captain (2012 and 2016). He also served as a Vice Captain in 2010, 2018 and 2021.
Reported: By SkyGolf, that the majority of competitors on the 2022 Legends Tour used SkyCaddie GPS distance measuring devices (DMDs) for their yardages, according to recently announced data. On average, SkyCaddie GPS users made up over two-thirds of the field in 2022 Legends Tour events where DMDs were permitted, totaling eight wins and 14 runner-up spots.
Announced: By NBC Sports, that it will provide live coverage of the LPGA Tour's season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions across NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock. Live coverage begins Thursday, Jan. 19, at noon ET on Golf Channel and Peacock, while NBC and Peacock will air live final-round coverage on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
Announced: By Zero Friction, that its Wheel Pro Push Cart bag is one of three finalists in the 29th ING Industry Honors Awards Program in the Product Ingenuity – Accessories/Soft Goods category. The bag, which was released in 2022, is a three-in-one product that can easily transform between a carry stand bag, a push cart or be put on back of a motor cart, and weighs 10 pounds. Announced: By TaylorMade Golf, the expansion of its partnership with LPGA Tour player Brooke Henderson, who is currently the No. 7-ranked player in the world. After signing an exclusive golf ball and glove deal in early 2022, Henderson has now agreed to a new multiyear contract and will have a full bag of TaylorMade equipment. Also, Henderson will use the brand’s staff bag and sport the TaylorMade logo on her headwear.
Announced: By NBC Sports, it will present a record nearly 450 hours of live women's professional golf across NBC, Golf Channel, USA Network, Peacock and NBC Sports digital platforms in 2023. The schedule features coverage of all 35 LPGA events, including the five major championships and Solheim Cup. Also, the U.S. Women's Open third- and final-round coverage from Pebble Beach Golf Links, July 8-9, will air live in primetime on NBC for the first time.
Announced: By TaylorMade Golf Company, a material investment in PopStroke, a cutting-edge putting and casual dining concept that merges a technologically advanced competitive golf environment with food and beverage. TaylorMade joins an ownership team that includes PopStroke Entertainment Group and Tiger Woods. Each PopStroke venue will be outfitted with special edition TaylorMade golf balls for patrons to use on the putting course and take home as a keepsake. In addition, premium TaylorMade rental putters will be available.
Announced: By CBS Sports, that the network will kick off its 2023 "Golf on CBS" coverage with the Farmers Insurance Open, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 27-28, which will conclude with a Saturday final round. CBS and Paramount+ will air 23 PGA Tour events throughout the year with Jim Nantz anchoring the coverage and Trevor Immelman debuting as lead analyst. The broadcast team will also include Ian Baker-Finch and Frank Nobilo as analysts; Dottie Pepper, Mark Immelman and Colt Knost as on-course reporters; and Amanda Renner will provide reports and conduct interviews. Andrew Catalon also will host select CBS broadcasts.
