FIRST THOUGHT

WM Phoenix Open Talking Points:
▪️ Scottie Scheffler, a two-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open (2022, 2023), is making his seventh career appearance in the event. In six previous WM Phoenix Open starts, he has four top-10s including his two titles. The 2022 title was his first career PGA Tour title. He now has 20 career wins in 151 starts.
▪️ PGA Tour returnee Brooks Koepka is atwo-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open (2015, 2021), having claimed his first career PGA Tour title in 2015. He has three top-10s and five made cuts in five prior appearances in the WM Phoenix Open.
▪️ The field features 32 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, highlighted by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. It also features seven past champions — Nick Taylor (2024), Scheffler (2023, 2022), Koepka (2015, 2021), Webb Simpson (2020), Rickie Fowler (2019), Gary Woodland (2018) and Hideki Matsuyama (2016, 2017).
▪️ Five players in the field who are PGA Tour are considered Scottsdale residents — Wyndham Clark, Max Homa, Jake Knapp, Matt McCarty and Joel Dahmen.
▪️ Only three players have finished inside the top 20 in each of the first three events of the 2026 season — Pierceson Coody (T13 / Sony Open in Hawaii, T18 / The American Express, T2 / Farmers Insurance Open), Ryan Gerard (2nd / Sony Open in Hawaii, T2 / The American Express, T11 / Farmers Insurance Open) and Si Woo Kim (T11 / Sony Open in Hawaii, T6 / The American Express, T2 / Farmers Insurance Open).
