At the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson, eagles and birdies were overly abundant. TPC Craig Ranch yielded 2,228 birdies and 104 eagles, Tour-high numbers for both in 2021-22. The next closest totals were at the Barbasol Classic's Keene Trace Golf Club ( Champions course) — 2,063 and 92, respectively. But such numbers should not be expected this week as the 12th hole has been changed from a 547-yard par 5 to a 493-yard par 4. There were 33 eagles and 253 birdies recorded at No. 12 in 2022.

KELLIE HINES
Director of Golf Instruction, Ocean Course at Hokuala
The First Call: What is your favorite instructional tip to share with a golfer?
Kellie Hines: Hold your finish ... piko [the navel in Hawaiian] to the target.
TFC: What is one challenge you currently see in the industry? Thoughts on how to address it?
KH: The length of the course being too long for the new golfer. Funny, we need to build longer courses for the PGA Tour. But for the average golfer, playing a course that they can reach in regulation and making more pars, birdies to encourage them to continue to play the game.
I'm a big fan of Operation 36, let's get more new golfers on the course playing from a shorter yardage and moving back once they feel comfortable and confident.
“When the trust account is high, communication is easy, instant, and effective.”
Thanks to devoted admirers, the work of a bygone generation of course architects is being preserved and celebrated by societies and associations bearing the designers' names
