In 1992, a pair of top-ranked amateurs — Manny Zerman and David Berganio Jr. — led the University of Arizona to the NCAA Championship, along with a third teammate, Jim Furyk. Zerman was a two-time U.S. Amateur runner-up (1990, 1991), while Berganio won the U.S. Amateur Public Links twice (1991, 1993). At this week's U.S. Senior Open at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island, Zerman and Berganio are reunited. Zerman is on the bag for Berganio, who opened the championship on Thursday with a 10-over-par 80.
