WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
➡️ At the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship, the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will qualify for the first event of the Playoffs, the FedEx St. Jude Championship (Aug. 13-16). Following the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the top 50 players in the standings will qualify for the BMW Championship (Aug. 20-23). The field will be trimmed further after that event, with the top 30 players advancing to the Tour Championship (Aug. 27-30).
➡️ Scottie Scheffler currently commands the standings with 4,123 points, holding a 794-point lead over Matt Fitzpatrick.
➡️ Holding the lead heading into the final round has been a reliable indicator of success this season. The 54-hole leader or co-leader has gone on to win 11 of the 32 individual stroke-play events on Tour, a feat most recently accomplished by 3M Open champion Jackson Koivun.
➡️ Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Gotterup lead the PGA Tour with three victories each this season. Wyndham Clark and Cameron Young are the only other players to secure multiple wins, earning two victories apiece through the first 33 events.
➡️ The tour has featured eight first-time winners this season, highlighted by four rookies: Alex Fitzpatrick (Zurich Classic of New Orleans), Kristoffer Reitan (Truist Championship), Stefano Mazzoli (Corales Puntacana Championship) and Koivun (3M Open). Three of these players — Fitzpatrick, Mazzoli and Koivun — secured their first titles within their first 13 career PGA Tour starts.
