“Greens in regulation” is the purest statistic that can be tied to a golfer’s scoring average—and key for lowering scores. Arccos compiled this data and results are fun to compare. For instance, a Tour player hit GIA 67% of the time; Scratch 56%; 6 handicap 44%; 12 handicap 31%; 20 handicap 20%. Interestingly, the average approach proximity to pin is 36 feet for the 20 handicap. That's quite the birdie putt.
