Scottie Scheffler entered this week's Masters as the presumtive favorite, the world's No. 1 player with two wins and a T2 in his last there starts. On Thursday at Augusta National, Scheffler fired a bogey-free 6-under 66 to sit a stroke behind Bryson DeChambeau in an opening round that was suspended due to darkness. The 66 is Scheffler's lowest score in 17 rounds at the Masters. His previous-best round was a 67 in 2022 — when he entered the Masters as No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings and Official World Golf Ranking, just like this year.
