The PGA Tour's list of four players with the longest active made-cuts streaks reads like a riddle. One name looks out of place. Nos. 1 through 3 on the list are Xander Schauffele (37 straight cuts made), Viktor Hovland (28) and Scottie Scheffler (27). The fourth? Stephan Jaeger with 20. Jaeger, 34, of West Germany has five Korn Ferry Tour wins, but has yet to win on the big circuit — though he tied for third at last week's Farmers Insurance Open after holding the the 36- and 54-hole leads.

Klow Golf Company: Launches the Golf Stroke Counter Bracelet that aids in keeping score of the player’s strokes. The player moves up to 10 beads toward the gold charm across the premium elastic band, allowing the wearer to easily track strokes and keep up with clubhouse fashion. The base product is available at various country clubs and resorts internationally and online.
PGA Tour, Strategic Sports Group: Launch PGA Tour Enterprises, a new commercial venture under the PGA Tour’s control that nearly 200 PGA Tour members will have the opportunity to become equity holders in. Under this program, players would collectively access over $1.5 billion in equity in PGA Tour Enterprises. As part of PGA Tour Enterprises, SSG, a consortium of American sports team owners led by Fenway Sports Group, today closed on a major financial and strategic investment of up to $3 billion. SSG is investing an initial $1.5 billion into PGA Tour Enterprises. Also, the PGA Tour confirmed progress in its ongoing negotiations with PIF on a potential future investment. SSG has consented to an investment by PIF, subject to any necessary regulatory review and approvals.

KEY FACTOR
February's outlook continues to be dominated by El Nino, which is still quite strong despite having peaked in December. The blend of 1998, 2010 and 2016 continues to be a good comparison to this year — those recent strong El Ninos were all consistent in decaying into neutral (neither El Nino nor La Nina) conditions by April/May, which matches current forecast expectations. Weaker recent El Ninos (2007, 2003, 1995) had decayed into neutral conditions by February/March, making them poor comparisons based on current expectations. PROJECTED REGIONAL IMPACTS FOR GOLF OPERATORS > Based on the established comparison years of 1998, 2010 and 2016, look for continued abnormally wet conditions across the southern tier and up the east coast throughout February. > This projection also extends to California, as other forecast sources are suggesting wetter than normal conditions in California and across parts of the Southwest. |
